Sound familiar?
If any of these ring true, you're in the right place.
Your arms are smaller after weight loss, but stretched skin remains and hangs when your arms are raised or relaxed.
The weight has come off, but excess skin means your upper arms still appear larger or heavier than the rest of your body.
Short sleeves, sleeveless tops and swimwear remain uncomfortable choices because you're conscious of exposing your upper arms.
You can strengthen and tone the muscle underneath, but significant stretched skin will not disappear through further training or weight loss.
The procedure
An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a body contouring procedure designed to remove significant loose and hanging skin from the upper arms following weight loss. Excess tissue is surgically removed and the remaining skin reshaped to create a firmer, smoother contour from the underarm towards the elbow.
At UKSKIN, post-weight-loss arm surgery is planned around the amount of skin and residual fat present rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. VASER liposuction and Renuvion skin tightening may be incorporated where appropriate, while patients with more extensive skin excess may require an extended arm lift to achieve the most effective contour.
Why patients choose UKSKIN
Surgically remove the significant stretched skin that cannot be corrected through further weight loss or exercise.
Reshape the upper arms so their contour better reflects the weight you have already lost.
Address skin that hangs, folds or moves excessively during exercise and everyday activities.
Wear sleeveless clothing without excess skin continuing to conceal the transformation you have achieved.
The results

"Losing the weight was step one. My arms were the last piece."

"I stopped wearing long sleeves to cover the loose skin."

"I can wave and reach up without thinking about it now."

Good to know
Exercise can strengthen and develop the muscles of the arms, but it cannot remove significant excess skin. When skin has been substantially stretched and has lost elasticity, surgical removal may be required to achieve a tighter contour.
If your primary concern after weight loss is hanging skin, liposuction alone will not remove it and can sometimes make laxity more apparent. Where residual fat and loose skin are both present, your surgeon may recommend combining an arm lift with VASER liposuction.
Yes. Removing significant excess arm skin requires an incision and therefore leaves a permanent scar. Its length depends on the amount and location of skin being removed, and your surgeon will plan its position to make it as discreet as reasonably possible.
An extended arm lift removes a greater amount of excess skin when laxity continues beyond the upper arm towards the armpit and side of the chest. This can be particularly relevant following substantial weight loss, where loose skin is not confined to the arms alone.
